The Merriland Farm Cafe is one of the best kept secrets in southern Maine. Located on Coles Hill Road, just a mile and a half off of Route One in Wells, the cafe offers an atmosphere and menu that makes it a true destination favorite for tourists and local patrons alike.
We are a family owned and operated business. Jim and Julie Morrison bought
the farm in the late 70's. Growing blueberries and raspberries was their
specialty. Julie started making jams and pies and selling them at a roadside
stand; that stand has since become the cafe. Today, the
cafe is owned and operated by their son, Jon, and his wife, Stacy. Stacy now makes the jams and jellies, and Julie continues to make her much loved berry pies. Among the berry fields, Jim built a nine hole, par 3 golf course. Their daughter, Jennifer, and her husband, Donny, now operate the course.
As for the cafe, the main dining structure is over 225 years old. Although it has been through some renovation, the main frame of the house and its interior beams still remain original. Some of Jon's improvements have been the addition of a wine bar and a new reception and sales area for the purchase of jams and pies.
Keeping our establishment and menu distinctive has gained us recognition by
Yankee Magazine, The Taste of the Seacoast magazine, and national food critics.
We have also been
featured on the Food Network's "The Best Of".
We continue to strive to make the Merriland Farm a unique and memorable place to visit. Whether it's to play a round of golf at the golf course, pick fresh berries in season, or enjoy something from the cafe's menu, a trip to Merriland Farm is an experience the entire family will enjoy.
